Rhinoplasty

 

A nose can be distorted in many ways as a consequence of trauma or because of an ethnic origin.

 

We divide the nose into aesthetic units ( the dorsum,the pyramid,the tip and the alae).

These units should be addressed either specifically or in combination in order to restore a harmonious shape that fits the rest of the face.

 

In rhinoplasty,the bones and the cartilages have to be corrected .We should not forget the skin that ,sometimes is too thick,and adds to a lack of definition of the tip.

 

A distorted septum has also to be corrected in case of deviation,obstructing the airway.We call this correction a septoplasty.

 

Rhinoplasty or Septorhinoplasty is done under general anesthesia and a splint is applied on the nose for one week.

 

Bruises can occur around the eyes but will subside after 10 days.
